Clarity Is Power.
The Script We're Handed
From the time we're young, most of us are handed a script.
Go to college or university. Get a stable job. Get married by a certain age. Have children by another. Buy the house, follow the timeline, and check every box in the right order. Do that, we're told, and you'll be successful. You'll be happy.
The script comes from everywhere. Our families, our partners, our friends, and a world that constantly shows us what everyone else has accomplished and quietly asks why we haven't done the same.
And so many of us spend years chasing a version of success that was never ours to begin with.
I know, because I did.
The Life I Thought I'd Have
There were times in my life when I was certain I'd be married with children by now. There were times I believed I was meant to take a very different path, perhaps becoming a lawyer or pursuing one of the careers I imagined would prove I had done something big with my life.
Those plans made sense on paper. They were the kinds of goals that earn approval and nods of respect.
But life had other plans for me.
Instead, I found my way into business consulting, not through a traditional route, but through everything I taught myself and learned along the way. It wasn't the career I thought I would have. But it came to me at exactly the right time, and it turned out to be far more aligned with who I am than anything on that original list.
Looking back, I'm grateful that the life I planned didn't happen the way I expected. Because the life I'm building now is truly mine.
"Just Get a Normal Job"
When you step off the expected path, people notice, and many of them have opinions.
I've often been told to get a normal job. To play it safe. To stop trying to be an entrepreneur and just do things the way everyone else does. Most of the time, those words come from people who care about me. They simply can't imagine a different way of living, because they've never been shown one.
And it's so easy to fall into comparison. To scroll through other people's milestones and wonder if you're behind. To measure your life against timelines that were never designed for you.
But here's the truth: everyone is on a different path. There is no universal schedule for success, love, or happiness. Someone else's timeline isn't a standard you've failed to meet. It's simply their story, and you're writing yours.
Getting Clear on What I Truly Want
When I finally quieted all the outside voices and asked myself what I really wanted, the answer was surprisingly simple.
I want to be free.
Free to make my own decisions. Free to live life on my own terms. Free from building my days around what would make other people comfortable or proud.
That clarity changed everything. Once I knew what I truly wanted, it became much easier to recognize what didn't belong in my life, and to stop asking permission to live the way I choose.
The Puppy
Sometimes clarity shows up in the smallest, most personal ways.
For years, I wanted a puppy. It was a simple dream, but it mattered to me. When I was in a relationship, my partner said no. He didn't want one, and so I accepted that I would never have one. I filed it away as one more thing I had to give up to keep someone else happy.
When that relationship ended, guess what I did?
I got my own dog. And I love him so much.
It might seem like a small thing, but to me it was a powerful reminder. I had been holding my own happiness hostage to someone else's preferences. The moment I gave myself permission, I created the joy I had been waiting for all along.
That was the beginning of a new way of living. I started doing the things that made me happy, even when they weren't what others would have chosen for me.
Stop Muting Yourself
This is one of the hardest things to unlearn.
So many of us mute ourselves. We filter our opinions, shrink our dreams, and soften our wants to keep other people comfortable. We say yes when we mean no. We hold back the parts of ourselves that feel too bold, too different, or too much.
But why are we doing that?
Why are we spending our one precious life trying to make everyone else happy, while quietly abandoning ourselves?
Clarity is power because it gives you your voice back. When you know what you want, you no longer need the world's approval to pursue it. You become harder to talk out of your dreams, and much harder to talk into a life that isn't yours.
Your Life, Your Terms
This is why I do the work I do.
After years of chasing other people's definitions of success, doing the mindset work, and walking through the hard seasons, I want to help other women find their true selves. I want to help you discover what empowers you, what makes you happy, and what success genuinely looks like for you, not your parents, your partner, or the people you compare yourself to online.
Because no one is coming to create your happiness for you. You have to create it yourself. And the first step is getting clear on what it actually looks like.
You are allowed to want something different. You are allowed to change your mind. You are allowed to take the path no one expected, on a timeline no one approved.
Your life doesn't have to make sense to anyone else. It only has to feel true to you.
Reflect and Elevate
Find a quiet space, set aside the opinions of others for a moment, and answer these questions for yourself.
Whose version of success have you been chasing? Write down the expectations you were handed, and who handed them to you.
Which of those expectations still feel true to you, and which are you ready to release?
Where in your life do you compare yourself to others the most? What would change if you stopped?
If no one would judge you, what would you want your life to look like one year from now?
What is your version of "the puppy": something small you've been denying yourself to keep someone else happy?
Where have you been muting or filtering yourself? What would it sound like to speak freely?
Remember: your life doesn't have to make sense to anyone else. It only has to feel true to you.
